Bartlet to Barack
GET ANGRIER! Call them liars, because that’s what they are.
Read this great article by NY Times columnist Maureen Dowd. It's a fictitious conversion between former TV pres Jed Bartlett and senator Obama. Basically, sums up how we all want Obama to beat up McCain and pitbull.

YSL Belle de Jour-1967
When they actually had clothes on, there were some nice YSL cuts in the mix (I'm assuming this credit was for the styling throughout the film). Recommendation: Carry a cane regardless of age or physical ailment.

So Fresh and So Clean
Warning! Keep Out of Eyes! Wash Out with Water! Don't Drink Soap! Dilute! Dilute! Or Wet Skin Well! Ok!
Reading in the shower is made easy with Dr.Bronner's Magic Soaps. Dude was totally nutty but his soap is really good. The graphics are really nicely done, even if the intention was just to cram as much stuff onto a label as possible. Apperently there is a doncumentry about him as well, "Dr. Bronner's Magic Soapbox" by director Sara Lamm. I will have to check that out

Jerry in Red Hook
Fall is my favorite time of the year in New York because it's time to start seeing guys looking hot in suits. I love the crisp feel of summer turning into fall, everyone starts to look a little more tailored but it's still playful and light.
Girl's look great in dudes suits too!

More French Films - Playtime
Playtime is a very strange movie by Jacques Tati. It's slaptick and annoying but worth checking out because it's set in a mid-century utopia where people have created objects that were meant to help them out but just end up confusing them. Good take on post war design culture. Check it!

Alec Baldwin - The New Yorker September 8th, 2008
WHY ME?
Alec Baldwin’s disappointment, undimmed by success. Ian Parker
Alec Baldwin, who stars in “30 Rock,” the NBC sitcom that has revived his career and done nothing to lift his spirits, has the unbending, straight-armed gait of someone trying to prevent clothes from rubbing against sunburned skin. He is fifty years old, divorced, and lives alone in an old white farmhouse in the Hamptons and an apartment on Central Park West—feeling thwarted, if not quite persecuted. In conversation, he lets out an occasional yelping laugh, but he is often wistful, in a way that is linked to professional and romantic regrets, and to a period of tabloid notoriety last year, when an angry voice mail that he left for his daughter, who was then eleven, became public... And The Ampersand by Slim Aarons
1962: Radio comedy duo. Holding a large ampersand, Bob Elliott and on the right Ray Goulding. Exponents of dry new-England type humour in a surealsitic repertory company presentation.

I still haven't been but the New York Times has. Hear what they have to say here.
Dicks in Suits
Jill Greenberg did a photo shoot with John McCain, unbenounced to him she is a liberal, and made him look like a monster. Probably unprofessional but I love it.
Dead Animals = Rich Suits
Damien Hirst sold $200 million dollars worth of his work the last few days, breaking all Picasso's previous sales records. With all the market turmoil right now, it brings into question what's a good investment? Apparently art. So go buy some...

Not a Plastic Bag
The Brooklyn based company, Baggu, make these really simple nylon shopping bags. Do yourself a favor, buy a bunch and never use another plastic bag to hold a single roll of tp again. Great colors, check it!

Who Killed the Interesting Car?
Marc Newson designed this concept car back in 1999... THE NINETIES! What the hell has happened since then? Nothing. All new cars suck and look the same. My plea to Detroit:
Mr.Rock City,
Look at Apple. You hear that all the time, sounds redundant I know... but do it. They made nerd stuff cool and sleek. You make cool, sleek stuff look like crap. Do some interesting designs and use an alternative fuel source and I guarantee people will hop back into your vehicles like it's 1956. I love you.

Robots in Suits
I saw this LV add campaign on ffffound and it reminded me of this really cool photo shoot of Daft Punk hanging out at a Von's in LA.

Inspiration: Jesse James
Patricia Norris did the costume design for the film The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. The film is pretty good but the clothing is amazing. There are a lot of tailored suites, jackets, vest and dress shirts. Looks great! Check it.
Also, there was some help provided by Helen Uffner Vintage Clothing. I will have to go check this place out and get back.

Robert Geller, Spring 2009
Band of Outsiders, Spring 2009
I prefer the nerd and slightly western variations... not the skinhead varieties.
