Miranda July

Miranda July seems to be talented at everything. I just finished her book, "No One Belongs Here More Than You." It's very funny and sad and sort of sexual. Read it.

Also, check out the video she did for Blonde Redhead, simple and funny. So good.

Smells Good: I Hate Perfume

Winter 1972. A field of untouched new fallen snow, hand knit woolen mittens covered with frost, a hint of frozen forest & sleeping earth.

Great descriptions for great scents by CB I Hate Perfume.

I hope that our new presidency brings a return to the classic presidential painted portrait.

Grapes of Wrath

Henry Fonda in The Grapes of Wrath, 1940.

Seems as good as time as any to dust off the old Steinbeck.

Inspiration: Man Men

Everything about Mad Men is near perfect. The suits, the booze, cigarettes and interiors. The font on their office doors is even amazing. Must watch!

Nice Pants!?

Some of my cousins wear only Ralph Lauren Polo, they are like skaters that are sponsored except they have no sponsor-able talent. Anyway, I saw them wearing pants like these. At the time I thought they were very douchey. They have grown on me. Now I kind of want a pair... don't judge.

Faile opens a new exhibition tomorrow at some school in London. I am bummed I am going to miss it. If any of our many many readers in the UK checks it out take some photos so we can post 'em. Cheers!

I went to see the opening of Kaw's new show at Gering & López Gallery last night. So good, worth checking out.

What the hell is this red lever?

If you voted in NY, you probably had to use the booth above. It's like I was transported back to 1901. I like throw-back stuff (this blog is an indication of that) but voting seems too important and these rickety old things are on their last leg. What happened to the future? We use ATMs everyday, I don't think it's a stretch to vote using a similar machine. Too expensive? Ipods are like $12. Paper trail? ATMs print receipts... most times. Our country is about to take a big leap forward. So should the machines that get us there.

Go Obama!

My friends, you don't need another reminder. Keep your fingers crossed!
